This notice explains what information we collect when you visit shermanhomesinc.com or contact us, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short because we keep our data practices simple: we collect what you choose to send us plus the basic technical data any website needs to run, we use it to talk with you about your project and to keep the site working, and we do not sell it.
1. What we collect
- Information you send us. When you submit a form on this site (a consultation request, the cost-guide request, or a warranty request) we receive what you type: typically your name, email address, phone number, the town or county you are building in, and your notes about your project, along with which of our pages you sent it from, the page you first arrived on, and the website (for example a search engine) that brought you here. Calling, texting, or emailing us gives us the same kind of information.
- Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider records basic technical data when a page is requested — IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. We use this only to keep the site running and secure.
- Anonymous visit statistics. We count page views and measure how fast pages load, as described in section 2. These statistics are not tied to your name or contact details.
- Nothing else. We do not collect sensitive personal information, payment details, or precise location data through this website.
2. Cookies and tracking
This website does not set cookies, and it does not use advertising trackers or social-media pixels. To see which pages are visited and how quickly they load, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It works without cookies and without fingerprinting, and it does not follow you from one website to another or build a profile of you. Like any page request, it involves your IP address and browser type reaching Cloudflare, which already hosts this site.
The videos on this site are stored and served by us through Cloudflare. They are not embedded from YouTube or any other video platform, so playing one does not send your information to a video service.
3. How we use your information
We use what you send us to reply to you, to schedule and prepare for a consultation, to send the guide you asked for, to service a warranty request, and — if you asked for it — to send occasional project and planning notes by email. You can stop those emails at any time by replying “unsubscribe” or asking us directly.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We do use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf and only on our instructions:
- Cloudflare hosts this website and its videos, keeps the server logs, and provides our visit statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics). This data may be processed at its locations outside the United States.
- Formspree (United States) receives form submissions and delivers them to our inbox.
- Microsoft 365 runs our company email.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our company, our clients, or others.
5. Third-party websites
This site links to outside websites — for example, our trusted partners, review sites, and social media. Their privacy practices are their own; please read their notices.
6. How long we keep it
We keep inquiry records for as long as we have an ongoing business reason to — generally while your project is active or while you may still reasonably want to hear from us — and delete or anonymize them afterward, unless a law or a contract requires us to keep them longer. Records that become part of a construction contract are kept for the period California law requires.
7. How we protect it
This site is served over HTTPS, and access to our inbox and records is limited to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
8. Children
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
9. Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and whom we shared it with;
- Delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of;
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
In the past twelve months we have collected two CCPA categories of personal information through this website: identifiers and contact details (name, email, phone, project notes, and the IP address in server logs) and internet activity (which pages were requested and when, in server logs and cookie-free visit statistics). We have not sold or shared personal information, and we have not collected any other category.
To exercise any of these rights, email steve@shermanhomesinc.com or call (916) 626-6000. We will verify your request by matching it against the contact details we hold, and respond within 45 days. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request for you; we may ask for proof of that authorization.
California’s “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code §1798.83) also lets you ask what personal information we disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing in the prior year. Our answer is none.
10. Changes to this notice
When we change this notice, we will update the effective date at the top. Material changes will be posted here before they take effect.
